It gives me huge pleasure to welcome Cristina Ortiz to the festival. She first attracted international interest when she won the 1969 Van Cliburn competition and since that time has enjoyed a truly international career. Her natural musicality, masterful craftsmanship and timeless commitment to honest playing have ensured her a place among the most respected pianists in the world. Tonight’s programme will be another that should sell out quickly.
