Jazz picnic  

By kind invitation of Stephen & Charlotte Gabb. You are invited to picnic in the gardens from 11.30am onwards.

The concert will begin at 1.00pm Please bring picnic tables, rugs & garden chairs if you wish.

If wet there will be a limited amount of picnic space available indoors and in gazebos. (This space will be on a first-come basis and is not pre-bookable). Fully licenced bar available. With an extended interval, the concert will finish at approximately 3.30pm.

NIK PAYTON   CLARINET & SAXOPHONE

Grammy nominated pianist Judy Carmichael is one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride piano and swing. Count Basie nicknamed her “Stride”, acknowledging the command with which she plays this technically and physically demanding jazz piano style and said of her: “If anyone can keep this music going after I'm gone, it's Judy Carmichael.”  

Judy is joined by the brilliant Nik Payton, a protégé of the great American clarinetist Bob Wilber. Nik is widely considered one of the leading swing saxophonists in the world.
